Three Tips of Boiler Water Treatment

boiler water treatment

Condensate treatment

Condensate is contaminated by turbine condenser cooling water leakage and system corrosion products during the circulation process, and sometimes needs to be treated. The amount of condensate treated is related to boiler parameters, furnace type (if there is a drum or separator) and condensate contamination. As the boiler parameters increase, the amount of condensate treatment generally increases. The supercritical pressure boiler should be fully treated; the treatment capacity of the ultra-high pressure and subcritical pressure boiler is 25-100%; the boiler below the high pressure with the drum is generally not treated. Commonly used condensate treatment equipment includes cellulose-coated filters and electromagnetic filters. After the condensed water removes the corrosion products (copper oxide and iron oxide, etc.), it enters a mixed bed or a powder resin-covered filter for deep demineralization.

Water supply deoxygenation

Dissolved oxygen in the boiler feed water can corrode the metal of the thermal system. Corrosion products form copper and iron scale at high boiler heat load, which causes heat transfer to deteriorate, and even causes blasting or deposition in the high pressure cylinder of the steam turbine, which reduces the efficiency of the steam turbine. Therefore, the softened or desalted make-up water and condensed water are generally deoxygenated before entering the boiler.
Commonly used oxygen scavenging methods include thermal deaeration and vacuum deaeration, and sometimes chemical deaeration. The so-called thermal deaeration means that when the feed water is heated to boiling in the deaerator, the solubility of the gas in the water is lowered, and the gas escapes from the water and is discharged into the atmosphere. According to the working pressure, the application of more thermal deaerators is 0.12 MPa and 0.6 MPa. When the heat is deaerated, the water must be heated to a saturation temperature, and the surface area of the deoxidized water should be large (for example, using a water spray or atomization device) so that the escaped gas can be quickly discharged. Vacuum deoxygenation is often carried out in a steam turbine condenser. Chemical deoxygenation is the addition of hydrazine or sodium sulfite to the feed water to further reduce the oxygen content in the water.

Improve the overall quality of staff

Boiler water treatment chemicals requires a group of professional staff, but the reality is that many companies do not pay attention to the professional skills of the staff. Therefore, in order to ensure the safety of the boiler, enterprises should focus on training the boiler water treatment workers, prompting the staff to master more boiler water treatment technologies, and prompt the staff to develop a responsible working attitude, and can consciously pay attention to the boiler water treatment work.

First, training is provided for employees who do not have a qualification certificate. In addition, the pre-job training should also be carried out for the staff who have not yet been employed to ensure that the staff members are all certified to work; secondly, the relevant functional departments should give full play to their functions and provide training and guidance to the employees of each enterprise. Or it is to carry out technical consultation and technical exchange activities to promote the staff to improve their work skills; finally, the research on boiler water treatment technology should be strengthened, and new technologies and methods should be actively developed to improve the comprehensive level of staff.
Boiler water treatment is the key to ensure the safe operation of boilers, and is also an important factor in reducing boiler safety accidents. It can be seen that the treatment of boiler water is the key to reducing the investment cost of enterprises and providing excellent performance of boilers. Therefore, enterprises should pay attention to the treatment of boiler water, take comprehensive measures from all aspects, take active measures to improve the level of boiler water treatment, extend the life of boilers, and ensure the safe production of industry.
